DAY 1: HOME TO MITTAGONG
Monday 27th October
Welcome to our 5 day tour exploring the Southern Highlands and Riverina. With our pick-ups complete we head south for our morning tea stop at Bulahdelah and then it’s onto the Central Coast town of Wyong where we find Alison Homestead. The Homestead is set on two hectares in a rural setting on Wyong’s first land grant dating back to 1825. We’ll see displays of memorabilia, photos, furniture, toys and other household items, equipment, machinery and tools all relating to the early settling of Wyong and surrounds. We are enjoying our time here so much we decide to stay on for lunch. It’s now time to sit back and relax as our journey takes us through to the Mount Annan where we find the spectacular Australian Botanic Garden. Our guide will take us on a journey of exploration of Australia’s unique plant life covering over 416 hectares. We complete our visit here with afternoon tea. We’ll reach our destination of Mittagong late afternoon with time to freshen up before heading out to dinner at the Mittagong RSL Club.

DAY2: MITTAGONG TO WAGGA WAGGA
Tuesday 28th October
We return to the Mittagong RSL Club for breakfast before our day of touring gets underway. Prepare to be enchanted, all while enjoying morning tea, by the sights and sounds of Fairground Follies, akin to visiting an old-fashioned amusement park with its collection of self-playing instruments and mechanical music, fair organs, street organs and a 100-year-old steam carousel. It will be a fun morning, cherishing memories of the local fair. Next, we make our way via the quaint townships of Sutton Forest and Marulan before reaching Goulburn in time for lunch at the Goulburn Soldiers Club. Our afternoon sees us travelling through Gundagai – a town with a rich history and home to the “Dog on a Tucker Box”. With our day complete we make our way to the Mercure Wagga
Wagga where we settle in as this will be our home for the next two nights.

DAY 3: JUNEE AND SURROUNDS
Wednesday 29th October
Today is all about exploring Junee, a quaint rural town set between rolling hills and the Murrumbidgee River. First up is a visit to the Junee Roundhouse Museum, one of the most significant transport heritage sites in NSW. The museum allows us access to one of the few working roundhouse turntables in Australia and one of the largest at 30 metres. This is a must-see attraction for lovers of heritage tourism and train and rail enthusiasts. For lunch we visit Junee Licorice and Chocolate Factory. Established in the old Flour Mill, the factory is one of only three certified organic licorice manufactures in the world and the perfect place to stock up on some treats for those back home! We finish off the day with a visit to Wollundry Grove Olives. Here we will meet the growers, walk through the trees, learn about the history of Wollundry Grove and the production process of producing award winning olive oil and olives. After a fabulous day out, we’ll return to Wagga Wagga.

DAY 4: WAGGA WAGGA TO BATHURST
Thursday 30th October
We farewell Wagga Wagga and retrace our steps a little before reaching Cootamundra for our morning tea break. Our journey now takes us to Young, the Cherry Capital of the Southern Hemisphere. On arrival we enjoy a demonstration at Poppa’s Fudge & Jam Factory. For the sweet toothed there is a huge range of delicate chocolates and tempting lollies as well as their well -known freshly made fudge. All the fudges, jams and chutneys from Poppas Fudge Factory are made in store from fresh produce. Our lunch venue today is Allambie Cherry Orchard. We take a wander through the orchard and hearing from the grower before enjoying a delightful lunch. Back on board we meander our way through to Cowra. Our afternoon is spent at the Japanese Gardens and Cultural Centre. Designed by landscape architect Ken Nakajima, the 5 hectare garden is the largest in the southern hemisphere. It was built to reflect Cowra’s special significance to the Japanese. The Cultural Centre displays art history and crafts and has become known as the centre of Japanese Culture in Australia. It’s now time to sit back and contemplate our time in Cowra as we continue through to Bathurst and our final night on tour. Our overnight accommodation is the iconic Rydges Mt Panorama boasting uninterrupted views of Conrad Straight and the surrounding countryside.
