DAY 1: TAREE/FORSTER TO BATHURST

Tuesday 02 July 2024

Welcome to our 3-Day Christmas in July tour to Bathurst. Sit back and relax
and get to know your fellow passengers as we make our way south breaking
for morning tea from the coach at Lake Macquarie before our travels take us
through to Mooney Mooney where lunch has been arranged for us at the
Mooney Mooney Club nestled on the shores of the Hawkesbury River. Leaving
the Central Coast, we make our way inland reaching the Blue Mountains early
afternoon. At Bygone Beautys in Leura we stop for afternoon tea and a
chance to browse the largest private emporium of Antiques and collectables
in the Blue Mountains. A trove for treasure hunters and all who love a living
touch of history. There also happens to be 1400 odd teapots on display!! We
take a sightseeing drive along Cliff Drive and take a walk at Echo Point to see
the Three Sisters. It’s time to sit back and relax as we continue on to Bathurst,
home for the next two nights.

DAY 2: CHRISTMAS IN JULY AT ABERCROMBIE HOUSE

Wednesday 03 July 2024

Our first visit today is to the nearby National Motor Racing Museum which
celebrates the rich history of Australian Motor Sport, with a particular focus on
Bathurst and Mount Panorama as the spiritual home of Australian motor
racing. The collection has grown substantially over the last 30 years to cover all
facets of motor sport from the 1920s to the present. The stories of drivers and
events are told through original trophies, race suits, leathers, race footage and
photographs. We then take a sightseeing drive around the famous Mount
Panorama Motor Racing track and now make our way to Abercrombie House
for our special Christmas in July themed lunch. Built in the 1870s, the home
contains some 40 rooms and the beautiful gardens are listed as part of the
National Estate. With its mixture of Gothic and Scottish baronial styles
Abercrombie House has been acknowledged as one of the finest historical
mansions in Australia. Following our lunch, we also take a guided tour. Our final
visit for the day is to Chifley House – the only home of the great Australian
Prime Minister Ben Chifley and his wife Elizabeth during their marriage. The
house contains its original collection of household furnishings and personal
effects dating back to when the Chifley’s first occupied the house in 1914.

DAY 3: BATHURST TO HOME

Thursday 04 July 2024

Sadly, our tour must come to an end today. We farewell our wonderful hosts
making our way to Lithgow then through to Mount Tomah where we break for
morning tea at the Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens. Sitting on the summit of
an extinct volcano at 1,000m above sea level, this 252hectare garden is home
to a world class collection of cool climate plants with views stretching from the
Hunter Valley, across the Blue Mountains back to Sydney. There are more than
48,000 plant specimens such as the Formal Garden, Explorers’ Walk and Brunet
Meadow. It’s now time to sit back and enjoy the scenery as we traverse more
of the spectacular Bells Line of Road. Lunch today is included in our visit to the
delicious Chocolate & Nougat Factory, home of the renowned Australian
confectionary producers Nougat Limar, Bon Bon Fine Chocolate and The
Sydney Marshmallow Co. While here we enjoy a tour of the facility and the
chance to stock up on their wonderful products. We are on the homeward
stretch now and with comfort stops along the way we reach home late
afternoon with fond memories of our time away.
