Application for Travel by Eligible Students

Eligibility Criteria – School Students
The table below summarises the eligibility criteria for free travel under SSTS.

The eligibility criteria are applied in sequence. The year that the student is in is examined first.
- Kindergarten to Year 2 students are eligible regardless of any other factors.
RADIAL DISTANCE CRITERIA - If the Radial Distance exceeds that shown in the table, then the student is eligible.
- If the Radial Distance is less than that shown in the table, the Walking Distance is then examined.
WALKING DISTANCE CRITERIA - If the Walking Distance exceeds that shown in the table, then the student is eligible.
- If the Walking Distance is less that that shown, Health & Safety issues are examined.
HEALTH & SAFETY - Health or Safety criteria only needs to be examined when the age or distance criteria are not satisfied.
Parents/Guardians must apply for a new travel pass in any of the following circumstances:
- When the student has changed schools
- When the student has changed residential address
- When the student is moving from Year 2 to Year 3 at the same school
- When the student is moving from Year 6 to Year 7 at the same school
- When the student repeats a school year
An “Application for Travel by Eligible School Students” form is obtainable from your school or the office of Tinonee Bus Co. After completing the form and signing by a parent or guardian please send to school or hand to bus driver.
TAFE Students
To be eligible a TAFE student must be under 18 years of age on 1 January of the year of application, and;
- Enrolled in a full-time TAFE course for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
- Not employed
- Living more than 3.2 kms from the college by the most direct practical walking route and attending the college closest to their home where enrolment is available.
